What it is

A sketchpad for people who get tunes in their head and can't play an instrument. You hum two bars into your phone. Sing Lupa works out the notes, puts them on an instrument, and holds them in time. Then it builds a whole song around them: verses, choruses, a bass part and a pad, in the key you sang.

It runs entirely in the browser. There is no server to sign up to and nothing is sent anywhere, because there is nowhere for it to be sent. Your voice never leaves the device it was sung into.

How it works

  1. Pick a beatChoose a vibe. Press Play.
  2. Sing two barsOne beat, four clicks, then sing. La-la-la is fine.
  3. Press Sing Lupa! Two bars become three minutes. Drag the moon to steer it.

Not ready to sing into a microphone? The app opens with an example you can hear first.

What's different about it

You get notes, not an audio file

Most "hum into a song" tools hand back an MP3. If a note came out wrong, that's that. Sing Lupa gives you a piano roll: drag a note, split it, nudge it a semitone, or press Tidy and let it guess what you meant. Nothing is baked until you export it.

Nothing is uploaded

No account, no credits, no queue, no terms about what happens to a recording of your voice. The pitch detection runs on your device. A shared song travels inside the link itself, so even sharing doesn't put it on anyone's server.

It arranges rather than generates

The parts Lupa adds are built from the chords of what you sang, on even rhythms, kept out of your octave so they sit under the tune instead of fighting it. It sounds like an arrangement of your idea, because that's what it is.

It leaves by the front door

Export MIDI and finish it in a DAW: a track per part, the beat on channel 10. Or WAV for the audio, or a small sketch file to move between devices.

Questions

Do I need to be able to sing?
No. It's listening for pitch, not for talent. Humming works, so does la-la-la. If it mishears a note, you drag it.
Is my voice uploaded anywhere?
No. There is no server and no account. Everything happens on your device, and the app keeps working with the network switched off.
What does it cost?
Nothing. There are no credits and no paid tier.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, and that's mostly what it's built for. Add it to your home screen and it opens like an app. There's an Android build too. Headphones help: on speakers, the microphone hears the beat along with your voice.
Can I get it into my DAW?
Yes. Export MIDI, which gives a track per part with the beat on channel 10. WAV export renders the audio.
How do I send someone a song?
Press Share. The whole song is packed into the link, so whoever opens it gets your song and the sky it plays under, with nothing stored in between.
Where are my sketches kept?
In the browser, on your device. That means clearing site data clears them, so export a sketch file for anything you want to keep. Installing it to your home screen makes the browser hold on to them for longer.
